Talking Bacterial EVs with Priscila Dauros-Singorenko: Applications and Research Priorities
Microbiologist Priscila Dauros-Singorenko (PhD) discusses her work on bacterial EVs with Michele Trott (PhD). Priscila Dauros-Singorenko studied bacterial antibiotic resistance in Chile, completed her PhD in Auckland, New Zealand, then began her research journey in extracellular vesicles (EV) by investigating bacterial EVs (bEVs). Specifically, she studied bEVs released by pathogenic bacteria to see how bEVs could influence their human host during infection. Along with multidisciplinary collaborators, she studied cell culture-related pre-analytical variables and their effect on bEV molecular composition and optimised bEV isolation methods from cultured samples and complex biofluids. Her research now includes studies of EV-mediated host modulation of bacterial microbiota and pathogens.
