qViro

A unique new approach to the measurement of viral concentrations; qViro incorporates Izon’s proprietary scanning ion occlusion spectroscopy (SIOS) platform to bring this virus counting technology to the research lab.

qViro is a virus counting instrument which provides previously unavailable capability to count and characterise individual virus particles in real-time. Using the sensitive manual control available in qViro, Izon’s dynamically adjustable nanopores can be tuned for a range of viral particle sizes, giving researchers the capacity for precision counting of viruses.

Data acquisition software allows the virus count to be viewed in real-time.  Disposable elements of the instrument enable issues of contamination to be handled according to researchers’ needs.

This highly portable, robust, and flexible instrument offers a genuinely novel approach for fluid-borne virus particle analysis.

qViro has been designed to enable modularised upgrades such as full, software controlled automation of nanopore aperture adjustment, feedback control capability, pressurised control of flow and automated fluid control systems.

Key features of qViro include:

  • Unique, real-time dynamically tuneable nanopores
  • Measurement sensitivity to single virus scale
  • Full software control suite and real-time count indicator
  • Minimal power requirements with built-in proprietary amplifier
  • Robust instrument allows operation in a range of environments according to contamination risk
  • Direct access to both upper and lower fluid cells for easy and safe sample handling
  • Small footprint and easily portable technology
  • Robust technology that does not require vibration isolation or additional electronic isolation
  • Low cost
Uses of qViro include:

  • Virus quantitation
  • Immunodetection
  • Molecular diagnostics
  • Biomolecule analysis
The first version of qViro is available in full release from June 2009.  The qViro is sold as a full system ready for use including the base instrument, fluid cell and a starter kit of nanopores, buffer solution and standard particle sets.
